We, the undersigned, kindly request that current Nashville building regulations be enforced at 4408 Nevada Avenue and 4500 Utah Avenue. Current code 17.12.060 require that "accessory structures shall not exceed one story or sixteen feet in height... the roof on the structure shall rise from the side walls at a roof pitch no steeper than the predominant roof pitch of the principal dwelling..." Both of these structures are in violation of these guidelines as they both contain second levels. The construction you see in the attached picture was granted a permit for a one level 689sf structure. Clearly a much larger structure has been built.

The regulations currently in place help avoid oversized 2 story structures like these from being squeezed onto smaller lots which reduces our trees, green space and neighborhood feel. Enforcement of these existing building dimensions will help us preserve the character of our beloved neighborhood. Thank you for your consideration and continued enforcement.

Sylvan Park homeowner for 30 years. Please enforce building codes and protect the footprint (and sky-print) of our neighborhood!

I bought my little house in 2000. I know that if I sold my house now, they would probably knock it down. Walking around the neighborhood has become depressing. The lack of yards/ grass/ trees/ flowers.... Builders are covering every inch of property.... please help us save what's left of our neighborhood.

The contractors need to realize that there is enough room to build legally! Save the beauty that Slyvan Park neighbors love - the lovely trees that give character & value to each lot.

dont think asking forgiveness after the fact and having to pay a small fine should be the accepted business practice any longer here. The fines are a drop in the bucket compared to the profits from sales of a larger building. Codes should be enforced to the letter period or there should be a license suspension for repeat offenders.

As an architect who plays by the rules, it angers me to see those who ignore them with no consequences.

Enforce the codes! If the plans are approved that violate codes, that is not right. If something is built that is not approved, they should have to tear it down. Paying a fine does nothing.
