We, the undersigned, who are current parents of Mater Christi students were dismayed to hear that teachers of our school were given notices of termination during Teachers Appreciation Week. While we understand that our school faces financial challenges that may necessitate reductions in staff, we believe that it was insensitive and inconsistent with the core values of our school to notify teachers of their termination during this week. We, the parents of Mater Christi, appreciate our teachers and respect the commitment, dedication, and love that they have given to our children. We value them and believe that they should be treated with dignity and compassion.
We respectfully request that the Board of Trustees and Administration hold an informational meeting next week for all parents to discuss the restructuring of our school and to answer any questions that parents may have. Thank you.
The stories parents have shared about the impact these teachers had on their children remind me exactly why this matters so much. I have been reaching out to the administration to push for that meeting because we deserve transparency about how these decisions were handled.

Seeing this level of backing from our community has been overwhelming and confirms that I am not the only one deeply hurt by the recent treatment of our teachers. The Board needs to understand that we are united in our demand for transparency and basic respect for the educators who love our children.

The board needs to step up and explain themselves to the parents. This is not the way to run a school.

This is completely heartless. Doing this during teacher appreciation week is just a slap in the face to everyone who works so hard for our kids.

I am so upset by this news. Our teachers are the backbone of this school and they deserve to be treated like human beings. When is the meeting???
