We, parents of children in the Los Altos School District, support equity and quality in our Kindergarten programs across the district. Every neighboring district offers full day options for all kindergarten families, and LASD must join what has already become the norm for our neighbors. LASD Kinder teachers would have more time to cover instruction using creative and balanced methodology when spread across a longer instructional day. Our children would be enriched and have a smoother transition to first grade. We also support equity across all school sites so that full day Kinder is available as an option to all district families at their neighborhood schools. We are asking the Los Altos School District to provide a Full-Day Kindergarten Program at our neighborhood schools.

Updates

October 18, 2013

The Los Altos School District board is still hiding behind excuses while our neighbors provide the full day programs our children deserve. I am tired of the stall tactics and the blatant disregard for the families they are supposed to serve. Keep the pressure on them until they stop treating our kids like an afterthought.

Full day is way better for working families. It makes no sense to keep doing half days when the rest of the world has moved on.

YES PLEASE. 3 hours is not enough time to get anything done in a classroom setting.

its honestly ridiculous that we are falling behind neighboring districts. my kids deserve the same opportunities as everyone else in the area.
