As parents, alumnae/i, and students affiliated with the Williams College Track and Field teams we strongly disagree with the College\'s decision to replace Ralph White as head coach of the Men\'s and Women\'s Programs. We believe that the College has made a serious error and mistreated this individual throughout the reappointment process. There are serious flaws in the College\'s reasoning and it appears that the administration is unwilling to even consider that it acted in error. Mr. White has provided extraordinary services to the College and the community over the last seven years, none of which seems to have affected the College\'s decision. This decision is not without serious consequences as it will cause serious financial strain on Mr. White and his family, as the College has not offered severance. Accordingly, we have decided to provide a settlement on the College\'s behalf: For the next five years, instead of contributing to the College, we the undersigned will contribute all monies intended for the College to a trust benefiting Mr. White and his family. We would have preferred to permit the College to resolve this issue directly. However, in light of the College\'s conduct, we believe this the only decent resolution remaining given the College\'s refusal to reconsider its decision.
