Thurrock Hammers Speedway aim to return to their original home in Thurrock, Essex.
Following the closure of The Arena Essex Raceway, which was sold primarily for housing development, the club, formely known as The Lakeside Hammers, needs a new home.
Speedway, which is a fantastic, family friendly sport, has run in the borough for over 30 years and we believe that Thurrock is still a great location for a new facility and is a growing community that deserves the exciting, top class sport that speedway provides.
We have a great relationship with Thurrock Council but we still need to show local decision makers how much support the club enjoys.

I was looking at some old photos of the track earlier and it really hits me how much history we are trying to bring back to the borough. The council is still processing things on their end but I keep sending them these updates because they need to see that this community is not just sitting around waiting for the sport to disappear forever.

I just checked the dashboard and saw we hit triple digits which is just wild because I honestly thought it would be mostly my family signing this thing at first. It makes me think about those nights at the track and how much everyone truly misses the roar of the bikes even though it has been a while.

We have lost enough motorsports facilities within the UK the last 20 years. We need his sort of facility to encourage youngsters into motorsport other wise we will struggle to continue to be up there with the best on race day on the world stage.
It's a childhood memory for me and my husband and his family. We have family and friends who have raced at arena. We ha e both ourselves raced a arena. It was an amazing sport and track and brought and extremely large group of people together.
Speedway is a family sport enjoyed by both sporting and non sporting families. With increasing pressure to build housing it is a major target for developers but do we really want rows and rows of houses with no space left for leisure activities?
Cheering on the Hammers is the one activity all my family enjoy together. We like different films, music and places to visit; but we all support our local club with great passion. Please bring speedway back to Essex, it's great for our local community.
I'm not a local but have watched speedway over 15 years. If I hear of Lakeside I relate it to the speedway team not retail or housing but speedway. If you consider the community give Lakeside Hammers a new home for what it represents to the community.
I have supported the Hammers since I was 17yrs. Speedway is the best sport ever.

Speedway is a great spectator and participant sport which has been eroded in this country by property developers . In other countries in Europe the local councils profit from their support of Speedway by providing facilities rather than denying them
