Sentinel Power Company recently put $53 Million in a fund as a condition for the approval of building a new power plant just north of Palm Springs. These funds MUST be used to improve air quality in the Coachella Valley. The South Coast Air Quality Management District will soon decide how this money will be used. The Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) has proposed these funds be used for The Parkway 1e11 Project, which is described below. Over 40 professional and industry groups in the valley have endorsed the Parkway. Besides improving air quality, Parkway 1e11 puts the Coachella Valley in a position to become a world leader in GREEN transportation. This project will benefit the entire Coachella Valley by creating a NEW 52-MILE PARKWAY. Pedestrians, cyclists and low-speed Electric Vehicles can use this Parkway. The Parkway will be built along the course of the Whitewater River, including a Class 1 Bike Path. It will be accessible from every city in the Coachella Valley for both locals and tourists.
