Senate Bill 842 focuses on the integration of trauma-informed practices training for all police officers in the state of Texas. It will ensure that peace officers who work with victims of sexual assault, child abuse or neglect, and/or family violence are not revictimized during the investigation of their cases. The bill, if passed will require officers to undergo this specialized training every four years. By signing this petition to get this bill passed through the Senate you are telling survivors of abuse that you stand with them and want to empower them to tell their stories while showing law enforcement that the community is requiring to meet a standard of service that does not promote revictimization.

This is so long overdue. Nobody should have to deal with cold or uncaring officers when they are already going through the worst day of their lives.
