Senate Bill 842 focuses on the integration of trauma-informed practices training for all police officers in the state of Texas. It will ensure that peace officers who work with victims of sexual assault, child abuse or neglect, and/or family violence are not revictimized during the investigation of their cases. The bill, if passed will require officers to undergo this specialized training every four years. This is so long overdue. Nobody should have to deal with cold or uncaring officers when they are already going through the worst day of their lives.
