As someone who lives near the Willows, I’ve always hoped there would be at least one establishment that served alcohol at the Willows. The folks behind this would bring so much to that area and I’m looking forward to it.

This can be just the injection of commerce and entertainment that will help keep the Willows alive for years to come. More foot traffic to the neighboring businesses, more jobs, and more reasons to visit the Willows. This is only a win for Salem and the Willows.

The Salem Willows Neighborhood protest sounds like classic NIMBYism at its best. The deadlock they've had on that area for a century or more is starting to loosen as younger generations either don't want, or can't afford, to take over the grand family Willows homes. To maintain and be responsible for the manses going forward into the next 3/4 of this century is a daunting task. As a Salem native, I've seen something in the past decade that I haven't seen in the previous fifty years: openly selling Willows real estate outside of the family or neighborhood. I was driving to Winter Island and almost went off the road when I saw my first ever "For Sale" sign on a Willows property several years ago! I think it was around the Covid shutdown. Maybe dire circumstances made it necessary. If so, I hope they've improved. But I think it's time to bring a variety of entertainment that both adults and children can enjoy like they do in the UK's family friendly pubs. We enjoyed this spot as Salem Lowe's Chinese food for so long; let's continue to use it for mixed family fun!

I support granting a seasonal liquor license to Axes & Bows at Salem Willows. This innovative venue combines axe throwing, archery, and family activities in a thoughtfully designed space that will create jobs, drive foot traffic to neighboring businesses, and enhance the Willows' vibrancy while respecting its character. This would NOT be serving alcohol in the park, which is a common misconception we have seen in the arguments against this project.

This would help keep the Willow afloat and an actual place where residents and visitors want to visit.

The Willows needs activity & customers to survive. Are there living neighbors who didn’t know it was there when they bought their homes? I’d be surprised.

I would love to see a Bit Bar like place on the Willows.

I think this is a wonderful moment in keeping the spirit of Salem Willows while become more current with new themes in entertainment. I'm actually excited about it and would definitely attend such a place.
