Please come and support your neighbors that are current or future responsibile chicken owners by either signing this petition or calling/emailing your city council members and telling them that you would like a pro chicken ordinance. The planning commision is meeting at City Hall on Wednesday, Jan 27 at 6:30 pm to draft an ordinance prohibiting chickens in New Prague, which the city council will then vote on at a later date. The meeting will allow time for any and all comments to be recorded and pass them along to the city council.

The last city council meeting in Nov.16 discussed chickens. Two residence came to speak pro chickens and most city council men were against it. Click on Nov. 16, most city councilmen give their opinion starting at 26:30.

Seeing this level of support start to build feels heavy given the uphill battle we face at city hall. It is exhausting work but knowing so many of you are behind this gives me the resolve to keep pushing forward.

I see no problem letting New Prague allowing home owners to have chickens. There are many benefits to chickens and a rooster is not needed to produce eggs. Council members should do the right thing and pass this ordinance as many other neighboring communities have already passed ordinances to allow chickens in their communities.
Really wish I could have attended the meeting. I was hoping to show my daughters the chicken experience. A Beautiful thing. So disappointed about the chicken rule. I moved my family south to be in the farm community and now can't even have a couple of chickens. Looks like when possible will have to move into the country. Can we appeal this or give it another meeting.?
New Prague residents should be allowed to maintain chickens. They are much less of a nuisance than barking dogs that most NP residents have!
Instead of a city ordinance banning chickens, could there be city regulations regarding the care of chickens; and it be left to neighborhoods to decide by each household voting to allow or ban chickens? It's understandable people want different things, and both would have choices with this option.
Please allow owners to have poultry! They saved me from depression, and can help your town add a fun animal that also provides you breakfast.
My son has been asking for chickens for months! If prior lake can allow them, our farming community should be allowed as well
I would love to have chickens.

My neighbors are very responsible chicken owners, I have no problem with this at all. I imagine some may not be, but why take away everyones rights because of a few irresponsible people.
