We are members of the Cambrian community who believe that our public schools are one of our greatest assets. We support the proposal currently before the Board of Trustees of the Cambrian School District to swap the district's property known as "Metzler C" for responsible redevelopment into single family residential use. In the current funding environment with continued declining enrollment, our schools' leaders have been forced to consider all district resources as possible sources of revenue and the fiscally responsible decision before them now is to maximize the value of the Metzler C property. Our students deserve quality educational and enrichment programs that are comparable to neighboring school districts to prepare them for the challenges and responsibilities of the 21st century. If our leaders in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. cannot ensure that equity, we are proud that our community will step up to do so.

kids need better tech in the classrooms so lets fix the budget once and for all
Property values are going up and we should take advantage of that for the sake of the classroom resources.
The district needs the funds. Keeping that land empty does nothing for the kids.

I 100% agree that our students deserve the best of everything yet the Cambrian unified board and the district office have failed to make well thought out , strategic decisions that result in benefits for ALL of the students in their district. They are currently rushing multiple large projects and they need to slow down, think through the details and gather input from parents and surrounding neighbors BEFORE moving forward. The last time the board rushed a big project we heard big promises and then ended up with multi-million dollar cost increases, cancelled projects, and a major contributor to the current budget emergency. The board created one school with the finest of everything while the other schools have suffered falling scores, resource drain, rotting wood, moldy buildings, chipping paint and shrinking services. The board needs to learn from past mistakes and change the way decisions are made. Think harder, move slower, plan better and make sure you are serving all 3400 students equally. Give the public a detailed plan showing what the money will be used for. Prove that the children will be the direct beneficiary of every dollar. Do not build a new district office, do not increase the head count at the district office. Please do improve all of your campuses so every one of your students can benefit from modern, safe and exciting facilities.
