Sunnyvale school board is proposing changes in school district boundaries, as part of the plan 2 zones will be affected

1) Washington park neighbor hood (Box boundary Mary Ave, Washington Ave, Methilda Ave, El Camino Ave) which currently goes to cumberland elementary will be moved to Vargas Elementary

2) Neighbor hood (Box boundary Mary Ave, Remington Ave, Hollenback Ave, Fremont Ave) which currently goes to Cherry Chase will be moved to Cumberland Elementary.

This proposal is very disturbing and impacts future of our children and jeopardize the property value of entire neighborhoods. Cumberland is currently ranked a 10 out of 10 and Vargas is a 3 out of 10, The API scores for Vargas in 2012 were below 400 were as Cumberland was well over 900.

We are collecting signatures to raise our voice and stop any such rezoning plan by sunnyvale school board.

my kids are at cumberland for a reason. moving them to a school with such low scores is unfair and honestly ridiculous. fix the school before you try to ship our kids off to it.

completely unacceptable. we bought our house specifically for the school district. this will destroy our property values and hurt our kids education. leave the boundaries alone!

Yes Lindsay is correct. I verified it at the source at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/ac/ap/ There is an alternate petition at https://www.change.org/p/sunnyvale-school-board-stop-study-on-cumberland-redistricting-plan

This petition contains false statements designed to increase parental fear. The petitioner claims, "the API scores for Vargas in 2012 were below 400." This is not correct. Vargas had an API of 743 in 2012, according to GreatSchools.org. I don't even think it's possible for schools to score below 400. I understand the petitioner feels passionate and I hope we can base the conversation in fact, not hyperbole.
