The Subscription Rooms will remain a publicly owned space for our community. This decision honors the dedication of the 664 people who believed a local venue belongs in local hands. We must now remain engaged as the new management structure takes shape to ensure the promises made today turn into …
We the undersigned call upon our district councillors to do everything in their power to keep Stroud's Subscription Rooms as the vibrant, publicly-owned community venue it is, and to work with the community to secure its future.
One of the oldest buildings in Stroud and certainly its best known. Brunel met there with town leaders when planning Great Western Railway's passage through Stroud. To see the Subscription Rooms sold off would be a disaster.

Keep the sub-rooms under Council ownership and get a management team in to get the best out of the building. Adding to the existing events, hiring to corporate ... weddings etc.. It's a great building and should remain as the Heart of the Town.

The sub rooms are the hub of Strouds arts scene. Keeping them open to all is essential as the gov reduce the arts in its national curriculum. Places like the subs help foster creativity- keep them open and accessible to all

SDC have to develop an arts strategy first before any Subs. Future decisions are made. The annual running cost figure of 415k p.a. Is incorrect..it's much lower if Ebley Mill overheads are removed. Is SDC consulting with subs staff about its future?

Such a useful venue - I've played classical & wind band gigs there, folk gigs, danced there, seen ballet, been to workshops and attend rehearsals once a week. Nowhere else in the district comes close to it for flexibility,
Friendly staff, too.

I love The Subs. Central to our community. I hope you will explore all avenues to keep it running, including the use of volunteers. Look to the model of how, for example, Windsor Arts Centre was started and maintained.

To many music venues are being shut down, this is a great venue and of more benefit to Stroud than another office block.
