Dr. Mayer has made an impact in me since the first day of the program. Her authenticity and strong leadership have built the program up. I don't know how she does it but she will return phone calls, respond emails, answer all of our questions, advise, among 100 other responsibilities..she still makes the students a priority! The program would never be the same without her. I thank her for being a role model and supporting me every step of the way!

There is a certain amount of honesty a professor must have with their students. There is also a certain kind of commitment as well, a comment to their students is a must, more importantly, an authenticity that students can feel and relate to. Theses skills are a essential to being a successful counselor. If you can’t convey theses feelings as a professor, while teaching a student how to be an effective counselor then you are wasting your time. Thank you Dr. Mayer, I was well prepared to start my counseling career with any population presented to me. I have had some success and failures too.

It goes beyond expression how much I value and appreciate Dr. Mira Mayer and the education I received under her guidance and teachings. I am a 2012 Master graduate of the Counseling Program and am writing regarding the excellent education and mentoring that I received from Dr Mayer. I currently am a School Counselor for Merced Elementary School District and use what I learned from Dr Mayer everyday. One of my main motivations in my success was to always try my best to "Make Dr Mayer Proud" I currently have a daughter that is graduating from CSU Sacramento and I am encouraging her to apply to CSU Stanislaus because of DR Mayer. She is not only an excellent teacher, but has done so much for the entire program as coordinator and always supports the students both current and alumni. WE LOVE MIRA!!!

I am a 2004 graduate of the CSUS School Counseling program. Dr. Mayer was one of my professors and she was always very professional but had high expectations of her counseling students, this is not a profession to take lightly. Since 2004, I have returned to the program to assist with the candidate interviews and Dr. Mayer has been warm, very appreciative of our help and really cares about the program and our profession. Please do not let a few individuals sway you to attack a very dedicated professional. Dr. Mayer has my full respect and support.

Dr. Mira Mayer is a excellent teacher and wonderful advisor in the counseling program. She advocates for all the students in the program and worked hard to get the LPCC in the program. This shows her dedication and I admire her for how honest she is when advising me. I rather hear the truth and learn from my mistakes. Mira is what every Counselor should be and that is not be afraid to tell people how it is. Yes, people can sugar coat stuff but you would be doing them an injustice. I would rather have someone tell me the truth so I know where I stand and what I or we could do to fix it instead of thinking otherwise.

As a student of color, i deeply feel/believe that Dr. Mayer is an outstanding professor who not only fights for equality for students of color but for all students alike. Dr. Mayer epitomizes the kind of professor who goes out of her way to make sure that no student is left behind. For her to be treated the way she is not only morally unjust but also makes me wonder what is wrong with this world. We need to stand up and protect those who protect us.
