Dr. Mayers is an inspiration to everyone who comes in contact with. I have learned so much from her lectures and advice. It is truly a blessing that my life crossed paths with hers. I can honestly say that, I would not be the person who I am today if it not been for her motivation and most important her words of wisdom and knowledge she passes on. I will be forever grateful for the assistance that she has given me in these last few months.

As a 2004 graduate of the Advanced Studies in Education M.A., I have often thought of the support that Dr. Mayer provided me. Particularly, she was a very enthusiastic and inspirational thesis committee member. We all remember how difficult it was to hold a full-time job, support a family (financially and emotionally), and to complete a thesis at the same time. D.r Mayer was, in part, responsible for encouraging me to to complete my thesis. I have always appreciated and admired her commitment to me and my educational goal.

It is with no reservation that I sign this petition in support of Dr. Mira Mayer. Mira has been instrumental in my professional and social success. She has guided and advised me academically as a professor, and personally as a mentor. Mira has helped build and create a long withstanding group of professionals who work diligently in assisting and supporting students, parents, and clients alike.
I would like to publicly thank Mira for all that she has done for me over the course of the past 12+ years.

Dr. Mayer was very instrumental in helping me obtain my Masters in Education degree and PPS credential (2012). She was always very inspiring, encouraging and approachable; her office door was always open!! I have often been the recipient of her sincere, undivided attention.
Amazingly, with her schedule, she always returned my phone calls and responded to my e-mails!!
She is "real" and no-nonsense. She commanded respect, yet made you feel at ease.
Dr. Mayer presented class subjects as interesting and insightful!!
Now as a counselor, I am utilizing many of the skills and techniques of what she had presented and taught.
She is a definite advocate for her students. I have personally had the privilege of having her speak up on my behalf.
Dr. Mayer has positively impacted my education and I am so VERY fortunate to have had her as an instructor.

I received my Masters in Education and PPS Credential in 2011. During that time Dr. Mayer was not only my professor, but my advisor and mentor as well. She will forever be the teacher at CSUS who made the largest impact on my life. During the four years I spent at CSUS as an undergrad, as well as my 2 years in the counseling program, there was no other professor that I encountered that even comes close to the professor she is. Her dedication and passion for the program, the students, the careers these students are building and the lives they will someday impact in their path is unmatched by any other. I am shocked that there is even a need for such a petition, or a need to share with anyone the difference this woman is making in our community. It is evident. She is an amazing person, both inside the classroom and out. She deserves the respect, support, and praise of those whose lives she has touched, and of those whose lives her students have touched, because without her guidance none of us would be where we are today. She is the center of a positive ripple effect and I am grateful for all that she has done for me and for the community in which I live.

Dr. Mayer is a vital part to the success of the counseling program. To have her as the Director and as a professor was an honor. She has a passion for what she does and it shows, undoubtedly. She is a role model, for what any of us in the counseling program, could hope to be. I graduated with confidence, from the program, knowing I had her approval. She is kind, caring, and honest. One of the best professors I ever had. Thank you Mira Mayer for everything you do!

I, Carol Wei See Lim had a Baccalaureate over 20 years ago, and finally decided to go back to obtain my Masters in 2013. I missed the orientation for the school counseling program, and I was lucky to get a quick response from Dr. Mayer to meet up with her in person to discuss the program and enrollment. I had doubts about being able to complete the program- I am in my 50s, have a business background, and English is my not even my second language, but my third!
Dr. Mayer's enthusiasm for the program and encouragement influenced me to give up my doubts and surprisingly enroll in her program! She has influenced me to make something impossible to become a reality. Not to disappoint her, I was determined to do well, and I managed to graduate within a year.
When I took a counseling class in my first semester with her, she was very aware that I studied hard for her class. She was so considerate to contact me about my grade. Her intention was comforting and encouraging. She acknowledged my hard work and encouraged me not to give up. She made me aware that knowing the subject matter is far more important than grades. Both her midterm and final exams were extremely difficult for me!
She always has an open door policy to all her students, and she was always there for me. She even contacted me about my job situation after I graduated from the program. She never gave up on me when I told her that I was still looking for a job. Her encouragement was that I am now a school counselor, I should make use of my knowledge and go out to the world to help others.
I don't have any doubts about her ability and leadership in the counseling program as a coordinator and educator. I witnessed her determination and dedication to help students and the program itself.
Dr. Mira Mayer is the epitome of what a coordinator/lecturer should be. She teaches what the book says and she also helps the students to figure out who they are and how they fit into the Counselor role.

I feel very fortunate to be part of a program where the director always made herself so available to the students. Dr. Mayer never hesitated to be there for me and answer my questions over the phone or in person. Her passion for this program is unquestionable and I fully respect and support her as director of the Counseling Education Program.

I can only say that Dr. Mayer has been not only a great Director to our program, but a wonderful and knowledgeable and professional instructor. She is very approachable and has directed me in the correct path all the time I needed direction. She takes out of her busy schedule to place us, the students as her priority. As a recent graduate I have nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Mayer. She is a caring person who wishes for all her students to finish this program successfully and be placed in a job right after completing the program.

To Whom It May Concern:
First off, why in the world does there need to be a petition to begin with? I personally did not want to get involved because I prefer to stay neutral. However, since others refuse to step down and back off, I need to ensure my opinion is known, especially since this whole situation has gone to a completely different and unfortunate level.
Many of my fellow peers and I cannot comprehend why the renowned reputation of the Counselor Education Program and Dr. Mira Mayer's wonderful name and hard work should be questioned by anyone. To literally annihilate Dr. Mayer and punish her with her very own livelihood is a backhanded and dirty blow to not only Dr. Mayer but to ALL OF US who went through the Counselor Education Program. Beforehand, we did not have a problem. Now we have nothing but a problem and this needs to go away. We, the students, of the Counselor Education Program (current and Alumni), who dished out a LARGE, ample sum of money for a great education from a supposed "higher institution of learning" should come first, not some pathetic pettiness. All one has to do is put the shoe on the other foot to recognize that this is bad publicity for OUR Counselor Education Program. And for what? All of this just for the pleasure of dragging a respected professor’s name and the rest of the program through a knothole? This is so ridiculous. We paid for a valuable education, not to deal with drama and a barrier to our academic freedom. We are the face of tomorrow and will eventually be at the forefront of our respective field when the older generation eventually retires. Dr. Mayer realizes this which is why she brought the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Program stateside for her students. She used foresight instead of hindsight. Why must anyone insist on stepping on the feet of future generations and getting in the way of our academic pursuits and the right to a more equitable and accessible education, especially when we are

Dr. Mira Mayer is a true champion of mental health. Her commitment to CSUStan's advanced studies department has furthered more careers than most will ever know. Mira required each of our own personal excellence. Her willingness to challenge one's biases with such compassionate personal support will forever be a life skill of mine.
Currently I am a registered LPCC intern. I am seeing clients. Mira single-handedly brought this nationally accredited licensure to Stan State-- the countless hours she invested, so that a new generation of mental health professionals can impact our communities must be applauded. Mira is not always "easy" on her students, but diamonds aren't made without pressure. My journey, my career are a direct result Of Dr. Mayer's firm resolve to shine a light upon my personal abilities and to fight, even me, at times to see the possiblities. I stand firmly resolute with Mira -- she is the breath of the advanced studies program. As a result of Mira’s leadership, the counselor education program at CSU Stanislaus has grown by leaps and bounds; she was successful in expanding the program to include the comprehensive exam and LPCC options as well as increasing the sheer numbers of students interested, enrolled and graduating each year. I have personally referred several people to the program and specifically advised them to connect with Mira. She doesn’t have a time where she considers herself “off” the clock and unavailable.
