Before the flood of 1994, the Smoak Bridge Marina property was a thriving marina that sold GAS for boats, it had a store that sold sodas, snacks, ice cream, beer, ski ropes, batteries, they grilled hamburgers & hotdogs and had picnic tables, it was a great place to gather on Lake Blackshear! Even before it was the marina/store, it was a catfish house & casino .. For the last 30 years the property has been vacant and just waiting for the right people to breathe new life back in it!!! The time is NOW! There is a family owned company that is willing to invest in this property and bring the much needed amenities to the south end of the lake, but it cannot happen without the zoning being changed to COMMERCIAL (even though there was previous commercial use of the property by the water, the zoning has been always been residential due to the original owner having a home & living there; that house has since been torn down).
As someone who loves Lake Blackshear and will benefit from this potential improvement on the lake... PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION AS A YES VOTE TO CHANGE THE CURRENT RESIDENTIAL ZONING TO COMMERCIAL!!!

The feedback regarding the potential restoration of the marina property has been remarkably consistent. I am currently preparing formal documentation of this project for the local planning board to ensure they understand the long history of commercial use at this site.

The property is an eyesore right now. Anything is better than how it looks today. Get it done!
TOTAL NO BRAINER. It was commercial before and it should be again. Why make it so hard for people trying to invest in the lake?
