It is outrageous that a teacher is paid her full salary to represent the NUT for 14 years without doing any teaching duties. The NUT should pay for her salary. Why should tax payers have to pay for this.

Schools should only behave in the interests of the children they teach. Let teachers pay in to the unions if they want to be part of them and let the unions pay the teachers wages if they work for them. Its not fair to the taxpayer to expect funds from the public purse to go towards Unions or to cover teachers wages whilst they are on Union business. Its should always be remembered that the interests of children should always come first.

Haringey, union members get to decide who represents them. Surely there are other things that need this money, rather than it being spent on a vain and malicious campaign against Julie Davies?

Get to work you wretched, idle thief. If your employers don't want you back because you are useless and cause trouble for everyone then they should sack you. I am sick of paying my taxes to support dross like you.

This is a fundamental matter of principle which all Trade Unions should defend. Quite simply the employer can not be allowed to determine who represents our members

I remember being intimidated and threatened by my Head just because I was a school union rep. Unless we fight for our rights, teachers will be ground down and unions will be made impotent.

The right of trades unions to select their own representative goes beyond just the NUT. Members of all trades unions should be concerned about this dispute. It is very worrying that a Labour council is supporting the management side against the union. They may say they are Labour but their actions don't reflect that in this case.

This victimisation needs opposing.
