As a Fortismere parent, I fully support my daughter's teachers and their right to elect their own rep. The headteacher's attempt to decapitate the NUT must be defeated. It is the teacher's who make Fortismere a great school. Unfortunately many of the most inspiring teachers left at the end of last year. Teachers need a strong union to defend them from the heavy-handed methods of the new head-teacher.

Absolutely. And where state-funded schooling is concerned, the best way to serve your children's interests in the long run is to support those who campaign for decent pay and conditions for teachers, i.e., the unions and their representatives. If teaching as a profession is unattractive to bright young women and men, they are hardly likely to enter into it. Your children and mine will suffer as a result.
Stop being so short-sighted and show some solidarity with your fellow citizens. If childcare is unaffordable, consider using the strikes as an opportunity to take time off to spend with your children, whose interests must of course come first.

I am a parent at HWS and am shocked at the misleading information given out by the school. Good luck striking teachers - you are giving our kids an important lesson in standing up for basic rights and against bullying and victimisation!

I have a son at Weston park primary. Many acquaintances at highgate wood and fortismere. You have my full support in the action you are taking. Who the union chooses to represent their issues is purely a union matter. I wish you luck with you negotiations

This is a crude attempt to oust a Union representative. Our children's education is suffering because of this unpleasant personal attack on Julie Davies. She may be irritating to them but that is often the way it goes with union representation.

This is about democracy. This person has been elected to represent teachers. It's not right for the employers to unilaterally remove an elected official. If this is allowed, they can simply do this every time someone stands up to them until the etachers have no reps, and therefore no voice, at all.
