Support for our D39 School Board

While I disagree with the outcome of tonight’s board meeting, I appreciate the work of the board and our administration to try to do what’s best for our children.

Thank you for your service to the community.

Thank you for making decisions for New Trier students, staff and the community that are based on science and that weigh all options and concerns carefully. Sadly, not all can see that you are simply trying to do the right thing. Even more sadly, some feel justified to insult and attack you. I join the ranks of those who thank you!

Vaccinations and mask mandates are health policies designed to help keep students and staff safe (akin to mandatory childhood immunizations). These policies should never have been a political issue.

Thank you, I support taking our time to make the right decisions for our community.

Please continue to support the well being of all of our students, teachers and administration. I appreciate all you have done to protect us from the Covid pandemic.

We trust the school board to act with integrity, wisdom, science and with the whole lives of our children in mind. You've done a great job of wading the waters of Covid uncertainty. Please don't allow a loud minority to interfere with what you and I know is right.

For each decision the board & D39 have faced throughout the pandemic, the science and recommendations from unbiased organizations dedicated to the health & wellbeing of our children (e.g. AAP, Canada's SickKids, UNICEF) have been clear. Unfortunately, the issue of relaxing mitigation precautions is the hardest decision faced yet. While the science and recommendations remain clear (mitigation efforts like masking remain critical), if the rest of society is aborting them, relegation of our children to more stringent precautions doesn't make much sense. Thanks to the Board for their careful consideration of the impossible decision our State and irresponsible non-science literate society are imposing on them.
