Norwegian Maritime Authority are issuing ETO licence to all Chief.Eng and 1st.Eng. They belive their education is good enough to get ETO license for ¨free¨. The result of this is that Norwegian companies belive it's good enough to only have ETR onboard their vessels, jeopardizing our jobs by making our education worthless.

The Norwegian Government provides technical chief and 1.eng get electrician technician officer stamp in their certificate. While Norwegian shipping owners allows their ships sail without an electrician technician officer on board. After the new STWC 78 schemes, which are to take effect 01.01.2017 , madness.
Når man i dag har fått et like langt utdanningsløp på en ETO som en maskinist der ETO-en får færre formelle kvalifikasjoner etter like lang skolegang, må også du innse at her er det noe som er galt. Vi har da også mekanikk på elektro så med den tankegangen din burde selvsagt vi elektrikere fått påstemplet M2 i sertfikatet da vi også har gått gjennom relevante fag i vår utdanning. Denne praksisen med påstempling av ETO i maskinistsertifikatet vil selvsagt undegrave hele vårt fag og vår utdanning. Hvem i all verden gidder bli ETO når maskinistene likevel får dette "gratis" påstemplet ved like lang utdanning?
So many times we have saved the day for the Engineers ? It i easy to say for people who have no idea I mean there must be a reason why the companies have wanted to have qualified ETOs in the past? I personally do not look as myself as irreplacable but come on why are there navigators? I could just go on and on
This is a mockery of an entire occupation, I really hope IMO takes this letter seriously. This is simply not durable!
We need to stand up for the Ships-Electricians work, experians and education! -If this cerificat is given to persons with mechanical background, education and practice, this is horrible! This will cause higher death statistics at vessels!
This is gambling with vessels and personell. One day large material damage or death will result from this
Kanskj du kan komme med dine 'problemer' på trykk så skal du få hjelp. Men eg forstår det sånn at det ikke er lett for deg . det å hevde at 'dette er langt over deres nivå' er jo selvf;lgelig en uttalelse ifra en som ikke forstår noe som helst innen maritime opplæring. Hva er det du får opplæring i som ikke trikkeren får angående el. Du får en gjennomgang med noen oppgaver om skipets oppbygging elektrisk. den e grei.. litt måleteknikk, litt her og der.,, litt ohms lov. and so.. d hele e pure basic for å regne. du skal bare lære deg å sette pris på elektrikeren du må ikke komme her å tro at en maskinist vil bli eller komme med løsninger om problemstillinger på elektriske issues ute i felt nå eller i fremtiden. til det er dere langt , LANGT underkvalifisert. Og tilbake til din hoved utdannelse,, ja så kan ikke den være noe spesiell heftig.. Det sitter ikke akkuratt ingenører som vaktavende maskinist. Nei,, konsentrer deg om din utdannelse så havner du vel inn i stimen av ....

We cant, do your jobs as a ETR , when the companys give us the role of ETO. And expect we shall do the same job as allways, when we are demoted to ETR.
