The Durham Historic Association Museum located on the 2d floor of the historic 1825 brick building (Old Town Hall/ Courthouse) on the corner of Newmarket Rd, Dover Rd and Main St is in need of some interior restoration. HDC/HC in collaboration with the Durham Historic Association is applying for a Moose Plate grant to help with these items : Plaster , woodwork, and window repair and painting of the Museum and entry way :
The Grant application is due April 24th and we would greatly appreciate support from the community. Please sign this petition and ask your neighbors to support this as well so we might start restorations on this valuable treasure for Durham.
The feedback from our neighbors confirms that this museum is a vital piece of our local history. I am currently finalizing the documents for the grant application to ensure we secure the funding for these repairs. Please call your town representatives this week to express why these interior restorations are necessary for our community.
March 15, 2015
The momentum we have built proves that this community values our shared local history. Use this energy to email your town representatives today and demand they prioritize these repairs at the next council meeting.

A vital building...the old police department down stairs where the court is. I often want to go to the museum however, it seems never to be open. I do support this project.....and hope to again get inside!!!

There are so many treasures in the museum. A project to repair and renovate the museum is necessary and can lead to showing off the museum treasures more effectively.
