An active camping and boating center with 22 years of contributing to Stonington's economy, Old Quarry Ocean Adventures is applying for a building permit for the following: staff housing and kitchen, six more campsites, a rental room in an existing building, and small auxiliary toilet facility.
The momentum behind this is incredible. Stonington is showing up in a big way.

The facility is amazing, safe and needed in the community . Access to the shore is getting next to impossible.

The presence of Old Quarry provides a diversification of economy in Deer Isle outside of fishing. I have seen Kayakers in Washington and California that have kayaked at Old Quarry and sporting their hats. With the large number of free access islands with in close distance and sheltered ocean water, Old Quarry is fast becoming one of the premiers destination for Sea Kayaking in the US. As its popularity has spread, so to does the campus as the only place providing this type of service safely and efficiently. I am sure this project will be done tastefully as you will see other projects have been done over the years.

OQOA provides visitors with amazing experiences and adds a large contribution to the island's economy. As a former employee, I am able to recognize the need for the building and believe it will be mutually beneficial to all.

Such a beautiful spot! It's wonderful that Bill Baker and Old Quarry is keeping it available for people to use. Everything there is also kept in pristine condition.
