I don't understand why I see the ball park at Portlock and at GISS empty all the time and people claim we need more baseball diamonds.

I am outraged- losing more ALR land is not acceptable.

As an earlier president of Island Natural growers and farmer on Salt Spring, I call for all to recognize the profound importance of retaining good agricultural land at this time of climate change. These changes will likely make unavailable and disrupt food supplies from other places due to draughts and so on.. Retaining good farm land means the SS Island folks will be able to grow food. This assures food security into the troubling future.

The totally wrong place to put a sports park. Should approach the landowner next to Portlock to obtain more park space. Keep the sports fields together in one area.

This land needs to be left in the ALR.

I am not satisfied that the purpose of this non-farm use development cannot be facilitated by existing Recreational facilities on SSIs. and thereby address the situation of Property Taxes payable by Island Residents.

I think it would be criminal to jeopardize the beauty and peace presently provided for the residents of Brinkworthy Estates. As far as I know it is unique on Salt Spring Island.

Agricultural land on Salt Spring Island needs to be preserved and I support this petition.

ALR land should be dedicated to agricultural uses, whether presently or for future food security.

I am very opposed to sports fields on farm and forested land. Just find some other place please.

We need ALR land. We need to be growing food there.

Since it is prime agricultural land, it shouldn't be used for a Sportsplex...there has got to be somewhere else on the island!

Important to do community input as projects develop - not as a pressured, after-thought. What about the property next to Portlock Park??

A process where the CRD puts a deposit on a land purchase for a project before it consults with nearby residents is RIDICULOUS!! This is no process at all!!

I am against using the fifteen acres adjacent to Brinkworthy for anything other than agricultural use.

Farmland needs to remain farmland because our food sources are highly insecure should disaster come

The erosion of our unique ALR needs to stop. Our local governance is showing a lack of vision by even considering it

we have lived on saltspring for 46 years, and I thought that brinkworthy would be a nice place for us to go to somewhere down the road, but if this ball field goes through, it will not be an optopn for us and seniors who may have the same idea as us.

How about dividing the flat section of this land into 2.5 acre plots for sale or lease to farmers for growing orgainic food?
