We have enough ball parks at Central and Fulford and the High School!!!

deep top soil takes many many years to produce and it takes little to destroy its fertility . keep it available for farm use. forest on saltspring have to be protected, desertification is easelly triggered on an island with very little soil. long term consequence of the choice of today have to be a priority. baseball is a recent fancy game that will pass. so many other games including the ancestors of baseball that doesn't require a fancy field can replace it for more fun and less competition and less money .

Please save this land for agriculture.

There must be a better place for playing fields. Cutting down a forest and directing so many vehicles down a narrow road seems ill-advised.

We need agricultural land more than another baseball field...Love Baseball..but lots of other nice spots for this.......

Please respect the residents of Brinkworthy...and our agricultural heritage..keep this land in the ALR!

Wrong Location Who is profiting?

We has a society need to be held responsible for care of not only ourselves but the earth . Part of this care is the return to local food production. Thus my position is NO to approving non-farm use for the 181 Brinkworthy property.

Big Baseball fan here. Played and coached for many years. Go Jays go. I do not support this misuse of the ALR for all the reasons people here have outlined but also because it has been sold publicly as some kind of romantic Field of Dreams for the kids. That can be just taken away if the land is needed for agriculture. Ha. In reality it's going to be a large CRD controlled complex of 15 acres comprising at least three baseball diamonds with parking washrooms change rooms and other support structures. Not only is this agricultural land, converting a large proportion of the field to a parking lot and astro-turf, will result in permanent loss of topsoil and likely chemical runoff issues in an area involving 3 watersheds where they intersect.

progress is another word for deforestation and loosing more wildlife

Saltspring needs to be ready for the impact of climate change, please do not remove this land from the ALR

I am horrified that prime agriculture land would be used for this purpose. Also the finances do not make any good sense, to spend millions for so relatively few users.

We feel it is incredibly important to maintain the preservation of Agricultural Land at 181 Brinkworthy Road for Agriculture use and support the Agricultural Advisory Committee's request to the Island's Trust and the ALC to reject any request for an approval of non-farm use for this property.. We don't feel that 181 Brinkworthy is a suitable venue for a ball field for several other reasons as well.

Great place for community based agriculture, allotments, leaseholds and our own food security is so needed here !

Wrong location for a sports field and parking lot. Wrong to take ALR land out of commission. PARC needs to be reined in, they are out of control -- this proposal should NEVER have gotten serious consideration. Recall the CRD Director for even allowing this to go forward at all.

We are not growing more farmland. Keep this land in the ALR!

Need to preserve prime agriculture land

We shouldn't be using ALR lands for non-agricultural purposes. The Gulf Islands Horsemen's Association is looking for land to build a community-run horse park. The agricultural use would be more suitable.

I absolutely do not support the use of ALR land for non-agricultural use. This is prime growing land and is in an area where playing fields will create nuisance and hardship to the residents of Brinkworthy. Pleas do not approve the application.
