Bash Local a registered charity who work with homeless and vulnerable people in our area, have started this petition to show Calderdale Council how much the Brighouse job centre is a valued part of our community.
Sadly the lease on our job centre building is up and our job centre will close and will be moved to Halifax.
This move could mean a 10 mile round trip for the most vulnerable people in our community. Without any money to pay for public transport people are going to have to walk to be able to meet appointments.
We have already lost other vital services in recent years, Making it harder for those with little funds to access the support they need.
With your support we can be the voice of our most vulnerable in our community and put us in a better position to challenge the council when they are cutting our services.

I was just checking the screen and saw the momentum shifting in a way that honestly left me speechless because I keep thinking about people having to walk all that way to Halifax in the rain. It feels like the tide is turning and it is completely down to the fact that you all decided this actually mattered enough to pay attention.

Brighouse job centre should not be closed. If the lease is up on the building then find some where else that could be used instead. The job centre is a needed place in brighouse and if your unemployed the extra cost of bus fair to see your advisor is going to add more strain on people.
As BASH say, vulnerable people having to travel so far will put people off going to the Job Ce tee. It's a resource which Brighouse can not afford to lose
Having to get to Halifax would put dreadful pressure on our needy people, who would fall deeper into hardship. Brighouse needs its own Jobcentre
As an ex-Brighouse resident I know how important this Job Centre is to the residents. To move it to Halifax would be appalling as the people who are out of work need this facility close to hand. How many more Brighouse facilities are going to be swallowed up by Halifax? Brighouse residents pay just as much in the way of rates as people in Halifax but are gradually losing all their facilities to the bigger town. It's just wrong, wrong, wrong!
Fantastic staff here. Helped me get into a course which lead to me finding a job.
Once more, a local facility is moved from Brighouse to Halifax to the detriment of the Brighouse Community.
Lobby the Dept of Work & Pensions as well. They could presumably get the lease renewed, If not, then the DWP should find other premises for the people of Brighouse - including those being wrongly forced to look for work when too ill to work. Write to your MP as well................
