I have recently read news that the Government has earmarked several Jobcentre Plus Offices for closure. Amongst those listed are the Offices in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, and Lincoln. In my opinion, closing these offices would be a VERY costly mistake, as there are very little choices left, especially for those living out in remote villages where the nearest offices are either of the two, and the travel costs to the next nearest office, be it Hull or whereever, would be simply TOO much for a lot of people to manage! This includes myself, as I am currently on Jobseekers Allowance, and already struggling to keep a tab on the money in my bank account. Closing the Grimsby Office would only make things worse, as I would have to make 2 separate bus journeys just to reach the next nearest office in Hull, and then 2 more just to get home! Then there is the human side to consider, as not only will jobs in the area be lost, but those on benefits, as well as spending hideous amounts of money on transport, could struggle to make appointment times, and could also be suspect to attacks by many unscrupulous characters along the way. It seems that the Government Spending Cuts are now going a little too far to me, so I hereby start this petition to urge the Government NOT to close the Grimsby and Lincoln Jobcentre Offices, as they are an essiental part in the lives of many people living on benefits within the areas of the offices in question. Every signature on this petition WILL count as undeniable proof that both these offices ARE needed in people's daily lives in both Grimsby and Lincoln, and any refusal by the Prime Minister to discuss the issue WILL be seen as an act of cowardice from a man who seems unwilling to be diplomatic in the face of such blatant public anger.
