? Especially a shop that is not part of a national chain? In the long run, threatening businesses like Argun will remove the very characteristics that make Hackney attractive and desirable to so many. It wasn’t too long ago that the Hackney Empire was under threat. Let’s take a stand now to save this business too.

Trying to terminate Argun’s lease is immoral and sacrilegious. What makes Hackney special are small businesses like this one. It’s important that those that have been there for decades, have faithfully served the community —- and continue to do so — are not pushed out. The old should not be cast aside for the new. This landlord will win himself no favours in the community by tossing out a beloved store like Argun. Also, realistically, where else can local students, residents et al quickly buy stationery and art supplies

Its a fantastic shop, fulfilling a need for a wide range of locals. Its a successful family business. Old businesses should be include within regeneratikns of areas, without impossibke rent increases. The areas where they've been lost feel shallow and sterile

We oppose the construction of new unaffordable flats that replace valued community spaces such as Argun and the Moth Club. These developments displace independent venues and businesses that give our neighborhood its cultural and social character. We support protecting community spaces and prioritizing genuinely affordable housing that serves local residents.

Argun is a cherished and extremely useful shop in Hackney, would be an awful loss if it closed - Greg King, Hackney resident

Argun is a pillar of the community, a really important resource, and holds such a special place in my heart from all the memories I've made there: getting a present printed and bound for friends moving away; buying various supplies when I was studying for my A-levels and later when I was a teaching assistant; showing it to my boyfriend when he came to visit me; buying last-minute Christmas and birthday cards. It would be a tragedy if it were closed down in the name of a landlord's profit, and I expect public officeholders in Hackney to do all they can to stand up for it.

It holds so much value in the community that such a loss would damage the councils image and supposed dedication to improving life in the borough. Closing Argun would erase the only access to art supplies in Hackney.

Don’t think it’s fair why the shop closing it’s a great place to go for stationery etc and it’s local or there’s Dalston to go to but why trek all that way when there’s a local place to go to. Big profiteering shouldn’t be winning ALL THE TIME… what about people’s livlihoods???
