This is a fantastic idea and something that should of been done years ago.. A lot of my family worked the mine at polkemet until its closure the whole area should have something not only as a way to remember the past but also a way to educate the children of today and for future generations to come

Fauldhouse was the third largest community in West Lothian at one time.This was attributable to the no of pits which were around the village .Although the Piet were largely gone by the sixties the pit slags still remained .Evidence of the toil ,sweat and hardship that was endured by those who worked their seams.I am proud to say that I am a Timmins from Fauldhouse and my father,his father and his father before him left school at fourteen through poverty to put bread on the table.Not only should there be a plague or monument in the village but the Miners Welfare hall should also have some sort of memorial to those who toiled in the dark earth below.

All other villages in West Lothian seem to have a tribute, so Fauldhouse should be treated no differently and receive their own tribute! My Father and Grand Fathers on both sides were miners, so it would be a great tribute to all the miners of the village !

Fauldhouse needs a fitting mining tribute to recognise the heritage of the village, to remember past tragedy and to acknowledge the close knit community which developed from this industry. My Papa and his brothers were miners and I feel that this tribute would recognise their contribution.

My father was a shot firer at the pit he died when he was 46 from a heart attack my brothers jim coulter and robbie were also miners from fauldhouse i support a memorial to show what a dangerous and dirty jod mining was but people had no choice at the time some of my relatives were down the mines at 12 years old .

as a Child I grew up during at least two miners strikes. and at one time I was making 5 pounds 30 p and this amount had to keep our home running as there were no monies coming in, I even got the big chair as I was the breadwinner at the time . A tribute to the Hard working Miners would be so appreciated

The towns history should be shown and not fogotten

Not enough in our museums about working class history - let's celebrate it.
