I have been hearing so many incredible stories from people in our local sewing community while working behind the scenes on this project. It is honestly overwhelming to see how much this vision resonates with all of you despite me just being one person with an idea. This push for a garment district only exists because you stepped up to show that our local industry is worth fighting for.

Seeing this gain such momentum is truly overwhelming and I am still trying to process how many people care about our local sewing community. This movement belongs entirely to you because I never thought we would reach this level of interest on our own.

More than ever we need family wage jobs, downtown Renton has a huge transit center and needs tenants. This is a rare win-win-win project.
This is a worthy mission to get behind; it would be fantastic to have a garment district in the Seattle area.
I want to start a sewing factoring in SE Seattle for underserved youth..women.and people that need retraining after being outsourced or downsized.
Seattle area used to have over 30,000 jobs in the apparel industry. Work was done here. I know many designers who have to send their money out of state to get their designs manufactured. Our economy is dependent on the money staying here - but first we MUST retrain and grow our industry - before it is too late. Please pass this on to your friends so that they can sign this petition. It isn't just about employing veterans, it is about the economy of the NW region!
Newcomers to the fashion industry need affordable means to getting their product to the public. This is a great idea for both veterans and designers!

I have an incredibly successful product but I cannot buy materials in Seattle and there is very little in the way of sewing rooms. I want to keep all this money in Seattle!
