If you reside or have family that reside in ISD 200:

ISD 200 is in the processing of removing political policies that do not contribute to student success or educational goals. Currently the school board is sunsetting Policy #100 to prevent the elimination of federal funding to the school district by maintaining policies that are focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion instead of academic or vocational achievement.

Advocates for keeping the policy are claiming that popular opinion is in favor of the policy, as the school board has received emails against sunsetting. This is a gross misunderstanding of the role of elected representatives. Their chief argument for keeping it is that of symbolism and emotion, "What if this will help just one student?" "What message will we send by eliminating it?" "It just hasn't been done properly yet."

The policy is unnecessary bloat and dead weight that cloud the purpose and work of the school district. Elements in the policy that do not reference DEI priorities but protect students from discrimination are already contained in preexisting policy. Furthermore, the school board will be replacing the policy with a strategic plan (DRAFT) that focuses on achievable and objective goals rather than political ideals. None of these documents are divisive or unreasonable.

Will you sign this petition, in favor of our school board continuing to cut waste and focus on unifying and making our schools successful, healthy, and strong, and invite your school board members to continue their good work to include sunsetting Policy 100 in ISD 200?
