We are opposed to Summit County's proposed short-term rental regulations. This is a petition to request that the Summit County Board of Commissioners cease its plans to further restrict short-term rentals, which denies property rights and without just compensation for "taking" our property rights away. The right to rent residential properties is a protected Constitutional right in the bundle of property rights.
Summit County's ban on short-term rentals has already demonstrated that removing the right to rent short-term negatively influences home values - especially when you compare "down-zoned" areas that were banned from STR with "up-zoned" areas (Keystone, Peak 8 and Copper). The county is creating adverse home value dichotomies that favor only affluent "up-zoned" resort areas while unjustly "down-zoning" the rest of our home values, limiting wealth distribution and bolstering inequities within neighborhoods and across unincorporated Summit County. Why should people who live in Breckenridge have less property rights than those in Keystone?
Say NO to Short-term regulations in Summit County. Say YES to wealth distribution across the entire county. Say YES to everyone who owns Summit County property being entitled to equal property rights to rent short-term and that they shall not be denied this right without due process and just compensation.

I am owner in Baldy TH in Breck, reason for purchase was to become a "new neighbor", trying to rent to afford it and unable to due to restrictions now, please reconsider affects of what you are doing to the new home owners and future neighbors of Summit County and Breckenridge area
Having our home as rental property in blue River not only helps finance our investment, but supports local workers who offer valuable services. Additionally, we offer a property away from the resort environment and crowds.
In my opinion, it is crushing permanent homeowners property values. My value has fallen and I am watching this happen all over the county. This was a decision made by a few--and adversely affecting us all. It must be repealed.
I vote against STR restrictions on my home in Summit County. Owned over 10 yrs and at minimum should have grandfather clause and secondly, the laws will significantly reduce income for local mgr companies and business with reduced days in neighborhood overlay.
This is very sad for Summit County... the already high rates for lodging will go even higher... and middle income folks looking to get away to the mountains will be priced out. The county is quickly becoming a place that only the truly wealthy can visit.
These regulations do not help the local housing issue!
The county commissioners have not released any data to support their claims. Until they do, their reasons for the ordinance are just opinions that are possibly false and counter productive.

Government overreach with too many rules and regulations regarding short-term rentals causing housing values to decrease and more days on the market for home sales. Government should instead concentrate on building the affordable housing that locals need.
