Mississippi Dunes Blvd S (Between 95th St S and 91st St S)

We, the undersigned residents of all five Summer’s Landing additions, respectfully request that the City prioritize traffic safety improvements along Mississippi Dunes Blvd S between 95th St S and 91st St S.

Why This Matters

Mississippi Dunes Blvd S runs directly through our neighborhood and serves as a primary traffic corridor for residents, pedestrians, and families.

There is significant concern within the Summer’s Landing community regarding the safety of children and pedestrians along this roadway, particularly during peak morning and afternoon hours when neighborhood activity is highest.

Daily pedestrian activity includes:
• Middle and high school students gathering at neighborhood bus stops along Mississippi Dunes Blvd S each morning
• Younger children walking and riding bikes through the neighborhood to school and nearby homes

Residents are increasingly concerned about the safety of these daily routines given current vehicle speeds and traffic patterns.

With the approved 179-home Talcott Glen development and future planned expansion toward Grey Cloud Island and Saint Paul Park, traffic volume along this roadway is expected to increase significantly.

Without proactive traffic calming and pedestrian safety measures, many residents believe these conditions will present an increased safety risk for children, pedestrians, and families within our neighborhood.

The safety of our children and residents are at risk. I have been almost hit 2 times getting my mail. And I saw one guy that almost hit a girl on a bike. I have called the mayors office several times with no response.

There are multiple issues that need to be addressed with increased safety. While some in our neighborhoods need reminding to slow down, it's those coming/going to the Mississippi Dunes housing that are often speeding and trying to pass when they don't like your speed. I also agree that there needs to be additional implementation of signage/patrols and consequences for the increased motorbikes/golf carts that fly up the walking paths and through the park paths. I've witnessed people with dogs and children have to avoid being hit by these people that think it's a race track.

Please ensure traffic signage bars non-resident thru traffic. I see people coming south into the area early in the morning using Mississippi Dunes as a thru road going to the larger commercial sites in the area. These personnel often are driving at increased speeds and distracted by talking on handheld phones or eating.

Cluster mailboxes need better safety protocols. Shoulder lines? Something to avoid standing in the street to get mail

Every day I hear cars speeding down the street at all hours. When I am out pushing my stroller, I am terrified when crossing the street on 94th street s, due to speed of which cars go (often surpassing 40+miles an hour). The 4 way stop near by is hardly obeyed and many people roll straight through. This needs to be addressed!

I have personally witnessed cars driving theough intersections without regard to stop signs. I have personally turned footage into CGPD of a driver passing on Mississippi Dunes/Grenadier. These things coupled with the increasing number of juvenile operated mini bikes and golf carts, I fear will result in someone being hurt or worse.

Please consider actions that will reduce speeds. Add stoplights and create safe crosswalk areas for kids and adults trying to cross Hadley to go to Pine Glen Park and Pine Hill Elementary. The roundabout at 95th is off center, and can be driven through at full speed on Hadley.
