It’s harsh to fire him or whatever when his son it going to go to college soon and he has worked here for so long and is one of the most loved teachers. Why is Friends doing this?

Someone asked. Why did FS do this?
Who knows? Less transparency than the drump administration. Using any excuse to purge an expensive teacher who devoted 31 years, is 54 , and who the students have counted on in middle school for decades. Just to save money, or terrified of publicity from one insane parent ? There is nothing like the stench of Quaker hypocrisy.

Mr. Rollfinke was one of my favorite teachers in middle school and in an otherwise terrible year 7th grade math was a super fun class. If there is a reason for him leaving other then one parents complaints I would love to hear it so that I could understand why Friends is making this decision. So many amazing teachers are being forced out and I wish the school would involve students more in this process because there are definitely teachers who nobody likes and Mr. Rollfinke is not one of them.

Mr. Rollfinke was the best coach, math teacher and mentors I have had at Friends. I am now in Advanced Calc. Because he made me love math and have confidence in myself. For over 3 decades, Mr. Rollfinke has been someone the students could count on, now he should be able to count on us. The administration has made a huge mistake. For once they should listen to the students, not whatever secret excuse they have for this betrayal of what is best for the students and faculty.

Mr.Rollfinke is a wonderful teacher and Coach. He's helped me numerous times in math and has helped further my love for the class.

Mr. Rollfinke is everything that is great at Friends. He was my home room and math teacher. He sheparded me thru a rough middle school transition and made me love math. More than that, he is the heart of the middle school. Countless kids turn to him for support, guidance and even a needed laugh at his corny puns. For the school to dismiss a man who for 31 years has made us, the students, his life mission is beyond inexplicable. It demonstrates the rot that we lifers saw taking hold at FS under Micciche and his capitalist institutionalists. Profit and publicity above what is best for the students. What has been a moral Quaker institution for centuries has been rotting from the inside. My class observed countless hypocritical acts,disciplinary racial bias, abysmal handling of sexual assaults, and blocking of students voices. Friends had so many amazing faculty, like Mr Rollfinke that devoted their lives to the community that it was still an amazing school with great faculty and a disingenuous administration. Mr Rollfinke is not the only one being disgarded. Each US department was told to cut one person. Friends without Dr Hillgartener? Without Ghani Raines? Without Ms Ganpule? Better to keep those mentors like Mr Rollfinke who are the soul of the school and get rid of the hypocritical administration. It is these teachers, coaches,mentors who demonstrate Quaker values, not Micciche and his $ cronies.

He is a great teacher and helped me keep my interest in Math. He is a wonderful person and should most definitely stay at Friends.

He made me fall in love with math! I don’t think I would have been as open to math because of him! I really enjoyed going to his class. 7th grade was very tough for many reasons but his class was a place where I was always laughing. Also people still call me Siseneg which is crazy cause that was 8 years ago.

Mr Rollfinke has been a mainstay at FSB for decades, and the administration can’t just impulsively turn their backs on him after so long — especially just to preserve the schools image in some way or just to satisfy one parent (this is my assumption) The fact that the reasons are unclear demonstrate that supporters of Mr Roll deserve to know the details and have transparency

Mr. Rollfinke was amazing at teaching complicated and abstract math concepts in a way that made sense to middle schoolers. I was able to succeed in my future math classes because of the excellent foundation I received in Mr. Rollfinke’s class. He cares a great deal for every student’s academic and personal growth.

For as long as I have known Mr. Rollfinke, he has been supportive and uplifting. He has inspired me to always try my best and never give up.
