Final supporters
The cost of a permanent solution - either an improvement to the road or a replacement like a bridge or tunnel - could run to more than £100 million, but the SNP Scottish Government still won’t confirm that they’ll pay their share to make our roads safe and usable all year round. Meanwhile, businesses and individuals are at risk of more chaos on the road.
I’ve started this petition to bring pressure to bear on SNP Ministers in Edinburgh to have them face up to their responsibilities on the A890. With your help, we can secure the future of the link to Lochcarron in whatever form is best for the community.

I really thought this might just fizzle out in a quiet corner of the internet but look at this momentum building now. It is honestly surreal seeing so many people agreeing that we cannot just keep waiting for the next landslip to happen while the authorities look the other way.

I was just checking the counter and we are hovering right near that first hundred mark so if you have been holding off on sending the link to your neighbor or maybe your cousin who commutes this way now is really the best time to do that. It is funny because I started this in such a rush but seeing it actually move makes me feel like maybe someone in Edinburgh is eventually going to have to look at their inbox and notice us.

Please fix this as I worry every day for my dad and husband who have to travel every day to work. Also school children travel every day on this road. Please save a life before its to late
I think any solution will be welcomed if it solves the issue. This is becoming regular on a yearly basis, and is severely disruptive to the local community.
Let's keep party politics out of this. Our communities deserve a proper solution. We should have the best solution. That may not necessarily be the cheapest. A road crossing at Strome and a proper road bypassing Lochcarron Main Street is the answer in my view. Bridge or causeway? Either would do as far as I'm concerned.
I get the feeling they are waiting for a disaster before they will act...How will council tell someone they're loved one is lost because we tried to save a few Quid.....
Lives will be lost if something isn't done sooner rather than later. Every year there are closures due to land slippage. if any of this road's users were to walk along the hill above the road very few of them would ever drive on it. Cracks are opening up all the time.
This situation is damaging to the local economy. It is also an ongoing potential danger for schoolchildren who travel on that road twice a day. Enough!

This road and bypass should have been prioritised years ago, long before it cost the amount of money it will now and the amount it has already cost in upkeep and loss to the local economy.
