Yet another empty promise to get our votes. I work in the industry and I am sick of seeing promises broken year after year and no investment north of Watford. Each party has promised and failed to deliver when given the chance. It must stop now.

To the Right honourable Mr. George Osborne
The work must go on, the electrification of our rail track should and must go on. No ifs no buts.

HS3 might one day be a better answer to the huge capacity issues facing Northern rail routes. However, the existing routes via Standedge and via the Calder Valley will continue to be very important and should be electrified as quickly as possible. Otherwise investment in new diesel rolling stock will be essential – but also very difficult both to resource and to justify.

The east-west rail upgrades in the north-west are much more important than HS2.

Time to stop the scandalous inequality in per capita spending on transport between the north and south. Blatant southern bias

This is much more good value, environmentally-friendly and beneficial than HS2.

It seems the Northern Powerhouse is now off the agenda...more like Northern Poorhouse. Thankyou Mr Osbourne, the divide goes on.

As someone who lives in a West Yorkshire village on the M/cr Leeds line I can only say I am not surprised. There are bottlenecks but with a bit of imagination......
