Good rail links between northern cities should be at the heart of The northern powerhouse. This is essential and should be supported!

The train service between Manchester and Leeds is abysmal. It costs almost £3,000 a year for a season ticket only to stand up most of the time on a service which is also frequently hit with cancellations and severe delays.

We need this after the promises made. The north is always left behind & London Is always the one that improve in every way . I hate politicians as they are all born liers

we are in need of a new rail service and should be given it now as the north has suffered under this goverment's decisions

The original scheme was not ambitious enough, and would have been full to capacity as soon as it was completed. There's a valid argument for expanding the scope of the scheme, with reinstatement of 4 tracks whereever practicable, and reopening the disused Standedge tunnels. A short delay might be acceptable in order to get it right. What would not be acceptable would be a scaling back of what is proposed, a long delay, or other proposals in the south taking priority.

No crossrail2 before hs3 not just electrification of the existing lines. Aim higher please :)

To have a Northern powerhouse we need to invest in the north and also give us some NEW electric trains.

The imbalance in spend per capita between London and the rest of the country on infrastructure is nothing other than a national disgrace. Over TWENTY times the amount.

Absolute shower of rubbish from Network Rail and the Department for Transport - even when George Osborne, the arch 'Tory ****' for some people is angry about this, something has gone badly wrong. The North needs an electrified TransPennine Express more than London needs Crossrail and an improved Great Western Main Line. The benefit-cost ratio of this compared to some projects elsewhere in the country is much greater, so why put it on hold?
