Time to end the utterly ridiculous imbalance in transport funding. Passengers in the south-east would be utterly appalled by the service we have to put up with.

We have show solidarity over this issue as I believe this would benefit the NORTH more than HS2 which is a nonsense but obviously someones vanity project and going to benefit big business in the SOUTH! We need this electrification and new carriages not the cast offs from London.

Don't just commit to upgrade the lines for electrification but also commit to not reducing staff of stations and on train crew which will make the railways unsafe for passengers and other members of the public. Trains need conductors, not driver only which is dangerous for those who are the most vulnerable on the trains. Stop cutting our railways to benefit the foreign owned train operators who profit from running our railway into the ground.

This is far more important to the North West than HS2 which will definitely overrun the £50bn budget to save just 1hr (at best) travelling to London. Makes a bit of a nonsense of the government hot air about creating a Northern Powerhouse!

When votes were wanted we were made promises of a Northern Powerhouse. So what would you call this? An all inclusive government, then include us or lose your validity.

It is about time that the rail transport in the North becomes a priority. I always thought the Tories were just using it as an election false promise. We need a good local train sevice. It is extremely unfair to spend more per head on public transport on people in the south east and London.

This government got elected ubdrr false pretences saying they were committed to developing the Northern Powerhouse Now that they are in power we are told all rail improvments are halted,or does that mean cancelled?

It's been near enough 20 years since privatisation and some places in the North are still using stock that British Rail were going to get rid of. Sardine can trains and outmoded diesel-only lines are not what such a potential filled place needs.
