This Government has let down the north within 2 months of being in power. Total disgrace. The rest of Great Britain deserves better.

Stop the total waste of HS2 and spend the money instead where it will make a real difference better linking up the northern powerhouse, this is a no brain option

It is important to get Huddersfield electrified so that we can get to Manchester quicker to where the jobs are. What about electrification and new trains for the Penistone line.

Improved rail links between the northern cities are needed immediately. Surely this will be a great thing for commuters and businesses.

Disgraceful about-turn. If the project isn't reinstated immediately, jobs will be at risk within the rail industry and rolling stock cascade plans will be in turmoil. This apart from the lack of planning for a growing population in the north, with all the mobility requirements that entails.

Think the United Kingdom is no longer fit for purpose - we need to be independent from London.

Because they need to learn that there actually is a country outside the South East.

HS2 plans need to be scrapped and investment made to improve the existing rail network.

It is appalling that large cities like Leeds and Manchester are still connected by slow, noisy diesel trains. It would not happen in the South East...

So much for the promises to create a “Northern Hub”. The south wins once again in the “north south divide” I am very disappointed with this news. I guess this will mean more congestion on the M62 for years to come unless we can persuade our government to rethink their strategy? I have already expressed my strong views to Jason McCartney MP who I have been in contact with for the last few years regarding creating more capasaty on trains. I suggest you all do too.

It's beyond ridiculous that two of the country's most successful cities are so poorly linked. Electrification must happen now, the government cannot brush this aside any longer.
