Without electrification the Northern Powerhouse remains avery hollow election promise, and shows a cynical Government led by a party who wanted our vote, but let us down immediately.I,like a lot of potential Northern voters, will not forget this betrayal,so soon after an election.Bring back the electrification now.

Stop putting the south before the north or stop using the north as a gimmick to win you a few votes once every 5 years.

We need a decent transport system and were promised this. London isn't the only city with priority to transport

We are entitled to a fair share of available funding in the North. Without this, promises from the Government of promoting development here are meaningless. Time to deliver Mr Osborne!

With a combined population about five million surely the area needs faster, cleaner and higher capacity transport or the Northern Powerhouse will derail before it even starts?

It's about time some of the Home Counties transport funding was directed north.

This is the most frustrating news about transport in recent years. I'm fed up of paying full price fares and full price taxes to fund Southern development and then to stand on long distant trains which take way too long. The North is not a modern day colony and you may not hold us back for weekends away and smug photo opportunities at the next election! You definitely do not have a mandate to ignore us.

When I voted Conservatives, I voted for continued funding towards the growth of the UK's transport and business infrastructure in order to continue creating as many jobs for everyone as possible. I voted for the electrification of the Northern Hub, I voted for employment, I voted for a better, efficient and more powerful Britain.
Up to yet, all I have seen is broken promises and clear policies becoming more and more unclear. That's not what I expected.

Disgraceful. While big-city white elephant vanity project HS2 is still apparently going ahead.
