This has become a farce, our train services are atrocious compared to those enjoyed by Londoners

Deceitful action by the Tories, now you see it, now you don't. Problem is it will not harm their South East supporters so its OK to leave us Northern oiks to struggle on last centurys transportation

London isn't the only city in this country...

London gets Crossrail 2 yet we can't even get electrification. These dark satanic mills up north are staying in the Victorian ages unless we get a fair budget.

Total betrayal, years of disruption for no improvements in service. Huge amount of money already spent on bridge clearance wasted - lunacy.

It was disgustingly blatant vote buying to promise this Mr PM then withdraw it 1 month after election. You knew at the time you were going to. Never again trust the Tories!!

Have these people ever traveled on the trans-pennine route? You're lucky if you get a seat any time of day, never mind rush hour. And then there's the passengers to Manchester Airport, who won't have enough room for themselves never mind their luggage!

The 'northern power house' needs a modern railway system across the region.

As a rail engineer, the TransPennine route is at the heart of modernising the northern railway network. We need excellent public transport, not just road investment to link our cities.

For goodness' sake, fund the electrification and upgrade of the trans Pennine route. This is more important than cross Rail

Regular user of the Rochdale to Leeds service via Halifax which uses very old trains and I am lucky to get a seat on most journeys

Every new train built at Derby goes to London and the South East. Northerns new electric trains are 25 year old cast offs from the capital. Electrify Manchester to Leeds now and provide NEW trains to run on it.
