The poor train service across the region mean large areas of Manchester regions not covered by any rail or tram network, resulting on reliance on motorway. in OL2 district no access to tram, train, poor bus network. Commute to Liverpool to work impossible without car and now being pressured to stop using the car by 2040, as the M60/62 Smart Motorway upgrade is running late and no sign of completion, the NW is poor for commitment to any kind of transport upgrade. London are shamefully restricting resource and commitment to management of any type of infrastructure improvements in NW needs urgent attention.

It is long overdue that the north has to have easier connections to the south. Time to invest to make need it a success because the north IS the powerhouse for the country and always will and has been.

get it back on track. the clowns at DfT and Network Rail need to go, and we don't mean privatisation. We need competency and clarity to bring the transport infrastructure in the North into the 21st century. What a joke.

If ministers did not know about the issues prior to the election then we need to know as smacks of incompetence or looking for plausible deniability

I am appalled that Tory ministers knew in March that Network Rail wanted to "pause" the Trans Pennine Electrification, yet continued to deceive the electorate right through the General Election Campaign by failing to inform the public. We need ELECTRIFICATION in the NORTH NOW !!

Projects such as Trans-Pennine rail electrification are essential if the government is serious about economic development of the regions and the 'Northern Powerhouse', and resources have already been expended on it.
