The Russian Federation of Equestrian Sport support many show jumping competitions a year and thousands of horses are mistreated during this. They are beaten relentlessly, their mouths and teeth fractured due to the unnecessary jerking from the rider's hands. The horses are forced to jump at heights they are not fit and conditioned for, and no rider is ever sent off for 'foul-play' or abuse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkxOp_xfVEg This video here shows a typical competition, all horses beaten with the whip ‘from the heart’ and without rest. They are all jerked at the mouth again and again, in some cases causing clonic convulsions due to the bit beating on the bars of the mouth where the trigomenal nerves are.
