Parents should choose where to send their kids to school!

As a parent I have the choice to send my children to public, private or homeschool. As a single mom I was only able to send my son to private until my daughter was born. In my town of Escondido the public schools are extremely overcrowded and my kids are considered a minority for being Caucasian. So, I signed up for the lottery at the local Charter school, Heritage K-8 Charter. I was blessed to get my son in as a 3rd grader. This school has been a God send to me and my kids. Again, the decision to try to get my kids enrolled in a charter school was a choice. We live in the US of A where choices are given to us to make. As a parent, all I've ever wanted for my kids is to do better than me as an adult. Being able to get a college prep education is a step in the right direction for my kids to excel in life. I thank God every day that my kids have been blessed with a fantastic education. The choice to enroll for Charter is a decision that should not be taken away just because the districts are mad at charter schools for succeeding and prospering while getting money that the public schools feel only they have the right to have. Just think how many students would be struggling in the already large classrooms. I'm not blaming or pointing the finger at the teachers in the public schools it's the people higher up that should be getting the blame.

My three children attended public school and private school, and were homeschooled at different stages in their life. Don't take away our choices.

I know many that would be negatively affected by this, including my niece and nephew who enjoy their charter school tremendously.

Keep Charters Alive!!! Let's bring up school standards across the board, not "take away the competition". Students and parents need choices, we should be focusing on what's best for children and families not the government's pocket book!
