This is an outrageous plan and should not be considered. The A120 is already congested, trains overcrowded at peak times. The loss of farmland is unacceptable. Colchester Hospital is struggling to cope and would probable implode should all these new homes be built. And our schools and doctor's surgeries? Beggars belief.

Just a crazy idea there is simply not the infrastructure here to be able to cope with this and judging by the previous efforts to improve the roads which just have not been carried out after previous studies then the infrastructure just hasn`t been thought of. Also with the last study there was supposed to be a wildlife area and so they couldn`t or wouldn`t build a bypass here. It will be just a a complete urban mess. and doesn`t show green areas as were promised.

The theory is you have to build first to create the money to then build the infrastructure. This is completely the wrong way round. Without upgraded roads, new schools, new doctor's surgeries, a new large hospital, and improved rail connections this whole area will simply not operate. it barely does at present.Please let common sense prevail.

We live on the A120 near Coggeshall and on a regular basis the traffic already is at a standstill all the way back from Marks Tey to here at Surrex. When the A120 is at a standstill lots of traffic takes diversionary routes down our local single track roads to cut through to the A12. To walk or cycle down these lanes at these times is taking your life in your hands. Vehicles race round at breakneck speed to make up time. That is apart from how the plans would affect the countryside generally - once it is destroyed it cannot be replaced. There need to be other answers than just building, as somebody called them, 'battery' houses. Quality of life traded for profit.

Where are the people going to do their shopping? Sainsburys is near it's limit, the A12 and A120 are close to their maximum capacity. I live down Old London Rd, they cannot make the A12 three lane. The trains are chocker with commuters, local schools will struggle
Who earth in their wisdom has thought thoroughly about all that needs to be done???

Why spoil our village, where will everyone go to school, shop etc, isn't there enough traffic without generating even more, its a daft idea with no idea what its set out to achieve.

Has anyone stopped to think that 20.000 houses probably means almost 40.000 extra cars on A120 and A12? Do the planners know what these roads are like now at peak times? Improvements to infrastructure must surely come first, please.

The A120 is very busy through Marks Tey at the moment. So many new homes would cause total chaos and bring it to a standstill.

no! Until they can improve the links of the a120 (dual it to the a12) and the train service this will never work and will destroy what little country village life is left on the outskirts of colchester. A bloody ridiculous idea.

the arguments against this development are the same as those against the proposed new homes for Kelvedon, Feering, Coggeshall and more. Atleast development at Marks Tey would not involve extra traffic through a village as say development at Heybridge would impact on Hatfield Peverel, or development at Tiptree impacts Kelvedon. All of these places will attract commuters because London offers work and somewhere needs to provide housing. We need to campaign for a complete rethink so that development actually means what it says... Not just the building of houses.
