The infrastructure cannot cope at present. I do not agree with a development of this size in this location. The A120 and A12 would not be able to cope. Yes, I understand people need places to live but a development of this size and in this location is completely inappropriate.

I cannot believe they are thinking of destroying Copford for this , it would be a scandal if the A12 proposal is given the go ahead

This area is already overloaded with people using valuable resources such as water and roads, espeically the A12 and A120 often gridlocked with traffic. The are can just about cope with small developments but certainly not ones of the size proposed.

Urban sprawl not appreciated towards north Essex, otherwise home owners would consider moving to Suffolk. Facilities, roads, trains are not built for such expansion and nor should they, for RURAL areas. I recently moved from Southend purposely for the Rural living in the heritage town of Coggeshall. I don't appreciate or like new project towns, and believe these should be kept to area where people expect there to be such development. South of the A414 would be a good start.
Perhaps listen to the people!

As an area steeped in a huge amount of heritage, and with listed buildings dotted all over the proposed land in-which to be developed, I'm surprised this has got to this stage. As nearly all of the above have mentioned, the infrastructure in the area has surpassed it's current threshold, but add this development proposal to the existing problem, and you might as well take away all of Colchesters heritage as the oldest recorded town in the UK. Imagine the amount of history and greenery about to be plastered over for ever. Tourism % will drop.
You will only be adding pressure to an already, over capacity commuter route, and you are only moving the problem further away and putting further stress on Witham, Chelmsford, Shenfield and of course Colchester.
Sense prevails. Spend a little bit more time considering your options. That amount of concentrated homes in one area is not a 21st century solution in a town with so much history.

What quality is the farmland? You cannot grow food crops on houses. For 20,000 houses read 40,000 cars.

its a design for slums of the future poorly constructed rabbit hutches, square bland boxes,squashed in so neighbours can sit on the loo and shake hands with each other,like they are building at Tollgate no gardens nowhere to park apart from on the street total congestion these are built only for PROFIT only people who get anything out of this are the developers,,get the developers to pay for the infrastructure A120/A12 first and the Schools and Hospitals,
Put that to the developers and They will run away,
They like to take the easy way, and let the local tax payers foot the bill for a Development they DO NOT WANT

Not only will the proposed development overload the A12 and a 120. This is a completely unsustainable and inefficient way of meeting the demand for houses. All contemporary architectural and urban design theory is focused on building density into our towns to rejuvenate those areas and reduce dependancy on commuting which is both costly and polluting. The creation of these new towns is a step away from the ideal compact city to sprawling low quality development.

Essex will disappear eventually if councils have their way. It used to be a farming county but we are losing valuable arable land. The country is short of housing but builders do not build homes for the homeless, or affordable homes for first time buyers.

The A120 and A12 can't cope now. What about schools and doctors surgery. Utter complete madness. Copford has been ruined, Colchester is overdeveloped. It's a mission to get to Sainsburys in fact we don't even bother.
