The Issue

Regency Centers is considering leasing space at the Cochran’s Crossing Shopping Center in The Woodlands, Texas to Goodwill, as well as bringing in a low-tier fitness concept to the Sterling Ridge Shopping Center. These decisions could have lasting negative impacts on our community.

Cochran’s Crossing and Sterling Ridge are not just shopping venues; they represent the heartbeat of our local community. We expect a certain quality and appeal in the businesses that inhabit our centers. Goodwill, although providing decent services, has a reputation for inconsistent building aesthetics that may not align with the community's expectations for Cochran’s Crossing. Similarly, we do not wish to see an underperforming fitness concept at Sterling Ridge, when there are far more promising business options available that can enhance the shopping experience and community engagement.

Additionally, it is time for Regency Centers to invest in upgrading these shopping centers to meet modern consumer expectations or sell to an owner who will commit to such improvements. Well-maintained, modern shopping centers not only attract high-caliber tenants but also enrich the community’s property values and residents’ shopping experiences.

We propose Regency Centers collaborate with the community to lease these spaces to more suitable and appealing businesses and prioritize upgrading the shopping centers. This can be achieved through surveys or community meetings to better understand local residents' desires and expectations.

Join us by signing this petition to urge Regency Centers to reconsider their leasing strategy and to invest in upgrading the facilities at Cochran’s Crossing and Sterling Ridge. Your support is crucial to preserving and enhancing our vibrant community. Sign now to make a difference!

Stop letting all the legacy stores go away. The greatest losses are skeeters and marble slab. Don’t trash our shopping center with a Goodwill and stop pushing family friendly stores away. This is in biking distance from my house and some of our favorite places are gone because of high rent.

Volunteering 4 hrs a week in a food pantry for the past 3 years I am fully aware how needed and used these resources are but putting them in a residential community location is not appropriate and probably not convenient for those being served by them.

I have lived in The Woodlands for over 30 years and abandoning George Mitchells intent for village centers is appalling. Seriously, Goodwill? How about a pawn shop and bail bondsman next.

Tell me of one donation center that doesn’t turn into a dumping ground? They can’t afford (financially or the space) to maintain daily haul away dumpster so junk will accumulate driving down the value of the neighborhood. Where are the Township leaders who should have denied the permit from the beginning?

I am adamantly against putting a Goodwill in that shopping center. Our children are all riding their bikes and skating around there and the parking is already a little bit difficult. This would not be good for our center in our neighborhood.

The decay of the neighborhood begins with one store. There is a Goodwill next to Costo, another one on Sawdust, and Interfaith. Please bring something that will INCREASE the value of our homes.
