The frequency of heavy haulage trucks carrying sea containers in both directions on Hale Rd Wembley Downs is going through the roof! It is causing extreme noise and disruptions 24/7 and is extremely unsafe for the surrounding schools. This is a residential area being treated like a highway-- Hale Rd is not even dual carriage way between West Coast Hwy and Weaponess Road. Schools within the Hale Rd vicinity include Hale School, Churchlands Senior High School, Churchlands Primary School, Newman College, Wembley Downs Primary School, Woodlands Primary School and Holy Spirit Primary School. That is a lot of students frequenting the area on a daily basis subjected to this traffic which is nonstop.

The residents of the area propose these trucks to use the much safer, appropriate dual carriage way alternative of Scarborough Beach Rd. Please make Hale Road LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY and ban heavy haulage traffic.

We need as many signatures and comments as possible to make a strong case to the council and local government. Please encourage all members of your household and the local community to get behind this cause! Many thanks!

Updates

February 3, 2017

The feedback from local parents about the danger near the schools is mounting. I am currently compiling all these accounts for our presentation to the council.

Couldn't agree more. With the incline of Hale road in places greater than 10% the road can't be suitable for heavy vehicles. The noise they make going down the hill should be considered noise polution.

Absolutely agree. Extreme noise, vibrations in homes are frightening and over time liable to cause structural damage to houses, dangerous and cause congestion on roads, safety issue with school children.

Ban the trucks. to much traffic. the road can't be designed for frequent heavy haulage use. the vast majority exceed the speed limit. But most importantly heavy haulage and two school zones is a disaster waiting to happen.

This is common sense - Scarborough Beach Road is designed for heavy loads, Hale Road is not.

Hale Road, I believe,is incapable of handling the present amount of heavy trucks, lorries and container carriers. They all pose a massive threat to fellow road users and pedestrians. I have witness several near misses. These drivers obviously have schedules to keep and it's scary to be in their line of fire.

Totally agree with this! The speed of most trucks, which would have immense difficulty stopping, is terrifying. Some are so,big that they partially run over the island at the junction of Brompton Road. Nobody wants to stem progress but what price safety of all our school children using Hale Road? Regulate these monster trucks!

The trucks are travelling at all hrs of the day and are travelling too fast on occasion with loads that are unable to stop quickly should there be children crossing the road not paying attention. Very bad combination.
