Dear Lokhandwala Township Citizens,
As you all might be experiencing, the Puja Pandal erected on Akurli
Road at Hanuman Mandir is causing grave inconvenience to the citizens of
Lokhandwala Township, Kandivali East. A mere distance of about 1.2 km
from Lokhandwala Township (Loto) to the Western Express Highway is now
taking anywhere between 01 hour to 1 ½ hours !
Not only does this severe congestion poses a serious safety hazard to
the travelling public at large, but is also exposing the people
residing in Loto to potentially disastrous delays during any medical
emergency / fire fighting response.
I hope you all will agree that Loto Citizens have a right to decent
environment, to live peacefully and the right to free movement.
While adverting to incalculable inconvenience, nuisance and
obstruction caused to the public because of installation of the Ganpati
Puja Pandal and the decorative structures thereof, it is obligatory for
the State Administration to regulate the same so as to ensure that such
Pandals are not installed in already congested areas and do not become a
source for causing atrocity on the society.
May we therefore call upon the concerned State Authorities,
including the local MLA and MP to take up the matter with the concerned
Puja Committee Organizers and ensure that the structure installed, which
encroaches onto the public roads and spaces, is immediately removed and
there is a respite for all citizens living in the area.
Having requested the above, may I also add that this request for
necessary action should not be treated as an adversarial campaign but a
supportive one trying to ensure that the festive mood of citizens is not
dampened by the hardships faced.
Looking forward to your cooperation and an affirmative action.
Thanking you,
Lokhandwala Township Citizens Forum
It is almost impossible to cross over the Akurli Road due to bad traffic created by Pandal and wrong driving by autos.
