I don't think the draft recommendations were well thought out and do not appear to be supported by research.

The TDSB is confusing equity with equality. As educators, this is frightening.

The TDSB can expect more for all students, providing two tracks, but making them "academic" and "enriched." Thousands of highly-capable students will be under challenged in a single track grade 9 and 10.

Canada has excellent results in its education and its current approach to equity in education is partly responsible, according to its own and international research. Especially Ontario. So changing this must be done with great caution and be based on good research and data. http://www.conferenceboard.ca/hcp/provincial/education.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

The EETF plan is a travesty if anyone takes the time to read it. It uses language that makes it seem reasonable, but if you read carefully, it is a seismic shift to a horrible system. It actually says it will only hire "racialized" people. Meaning no more whites. Weird to see that in a TDSB plan. It seems their idea of equity isn't lifting those people that need help up. It's tamping people down based on their ludicrous criteria of privilege so that we can all average out to mediocrity. If this plan gets accepted, then public education is doomed. We can all work towards a more equitable society. We can all be anti-racist. But that is not what this plan is about. Shame on the TDSB for wasting our tax paying dollars for this awful plan. OISE needs to be shut down. And we need to stop thinking that all our schools need to focus on social justice. That's just one aspect of life. I want my kids to learn math, science, history, languages, art, music, geography. Not social justice. You are indoctrinating kids without teaching them how to think for themselves.

Please respect the potential of kids specialty. You hold the future of bright kids. Don't underestimate what will the program positive effect to the kids as well as to the whole student body as a whole.
