I strongly object to cancelling the programs

My son is thriving in the gifted program. I was told that part of the criteria for getting a place in the gifted program that was taken into account was the families ability to provide enrichment activities as a single mom I rely on the gifted program to provide enrichment support that I cannot otherwise pay for.

You can't mix oil and water. Cancelling gifted programs means to go back 50 years when nobody understood that gifted programs are to ensure the future excellence of Canada.

Destreaming failed 20 years ago. LD students need as more options than being dumped in a class with academic level students. Don’t treat them like garbage.

I strongly oppose for the removal of gifted program

It is clear this task force has no regard for equity or enhancing anything. It has one goal - cut costs with no regard to consequences to education.

Please rethink and reject the TDSB EETF recommendations. Let's work with the diversity in our schools!

I Say NO, to destreaming, cancelling specialty programs, and cancelling optional attendance.. Keep Gifted and all special education.

Congregated Gifted Programs in a public school provide the only equitable access to the special needs of gifted students. Anything else forces these special needs students to private schools, where most can't afford it. Not fair. Not equitable.

Gifted program needs to be continued.

I support creating more access, but not by de-streaming. On other big decisions, TDSB tests a theory (eg. technology in classrooms), verifies it achieves outcomes and carefully makes changes that are communicated in advance. Why would it not test this theory on a pilot basis (or several approaches - eg create more access), validate which approach works best and then make changes???

I would also like more community consultations and more time to read the report

The existence of Gifted Program is crucially beneficial to my son who absolutely thrives in it. This is a good program as it is now. Improvements are needed perhaps, but definitely not cancellation.

This has been working for our daughter -- and we think it should continue.

Equity means giving each student options and opportunities that meet their unique needs NOT taking away their individuality. EETF takes education back to the dark ages.
