We live near the corner of Fairfield and Gladstone and vehicles come around the corner speeding like they are in a race, only to have to stop a few yards up the street at Thornhill - that is IF they stop - half the time they run the stop sign racing up to the light at Line Avenue. I am so grateful that we do not have any little children on our block, because they could never be outside riding their bikes, playing, or even walking up the sidewalks, without the fear of being run over by a speeding vehicle. It is a major problem in our area, and sadly it took the loss of someone's life to get the attention it deserves. My heart breaks for the Self family - I cannot imagine what they must be going through, but they are and will remain in our prayers. Can you imagine you or your spouse leave the house to go walk your dog, and you never return - as a result of someone's negligence and then the coward didn't even bother to stop to render aid or check on the victim. STOP THE SPEEDING AND THE VIOLENCE!

Been raising concern for years. Spoken many times to police and city council rep. Nothing changes since the city does not have the police resources to enforce. Best option Video Surveillance for Traffic. Many cities have implement with very positive results. Good luck.

Good luck I have call for someone to come out because of the speeding on my street and they say it’s nowhere to park at around there He’ll park in my yard speeding is horrible

People don't stop at the Akard-Atlantic intersection and will blow on through going so fast. I agree that we need our speed limits reinforced.

Ockley also has a problem. I’ve sat on my front porch many times and watched dozens of cars run the 4 way stop. Sometimes they don’t even slow down. I have seen several accidents there as well.

Rodney Self's vehicular homicide is a horrible horrible tragedy. Speed control should have been mandated years ago! I have for years maintained that traffic speed in the neighborhood was too often far in excess of safe limits.

This absolutely must stop. I live on the corner of College and Creswell and the amount of people who are going a lot faster than the 35mph posted speed are just ridiculous. I don't care that you're running late! Leave earlier! Lives should NOT be at stake due to these speeders.

Our hearts break for Mrs. Self and her family. In the last 7 years, at least 3 pets have been struck and killed on that same block of Creswell. Another tragedy is only a matter of time unless the speeding—and texting—dangers are addressed.
